2018 Resolution Followup

I thought since 2018 is almost over that I would take some time to review my New Years Resolutions from 2018.

Below are the resolutions that I made for 2018:

- More focused time with the kids
- No R, MA, or M rated media
- Get weight to 180 lbs and do more exercise
- Save $600
- No swearing
- No fighting or raising my voice with family

Looking back over these it feels like I made these resolutions more like two years ago. Let’s just say a lot has happened in this year.

Let me go over each of these one by one.

More focused time with the kids

I think that I did ok but not really good on this one. I think that I could have spent more quality and focused time with the kids. Since we added one more to the crew this year perhaps this is something I can think about using for 2019.

- No R, MA, or M rated media

I did really good at this one early on in the year. I even went as far as to delete all M rated games from my consoles and PC. As the year wore on I have to say I slacked on this one although I don't think I was as bad about these types of media as I have been in the past so overall a slight improvement.

- Get weight to 180 lbs and do more exercise

I am currently 209  but there was a point where I reached 185 this year so that was nice. This is something that I just have to keep working on. I don't know if increasing exercise intensity is the answer or changing up my diet to either add more calories or do less carbs or some combination of both will work better but as long as I keep working on it each day I will at least maintain where I am although I really would like to get to 180 or even 170.

- Save $600

This one seemed very sound and simple but I soon forgot about it in the bustle of the year. I think this may be one that I can actually focus on doing this year. Perhaps something like $15 a check into savings is something that is doable. Since I get paid weekly this would equal out to around $780 over 52 weeks. Not to bad and having something like that set aside would allow me to eliminate the need for a credit card "for emergencies" as I could use the money in the bank for emergencies.

- No swearing

I think I did somewhat ok on this one but it is one that I can always do better on especially because the kids are talking more.

- No fighting or raising my voice with family

This is another one that I think I did ok on but certainly could have done better on. I'll have to keep it in mind as the new year rolls around.

In conclusion I'd say that I was pretty mediocre at best for all of these items. Perhaps it was because I set them and then soon forgot them. If I do set any type of goal or resolutions or themes for the year 2019 perhaps I can do something to keep them more in mind throughout the year and not just at the beginning.
